Taiwanese crime ring leader nabbed in Makati

MANILA, Philippines — State security forces arrested on Thursday night an alleged leader of a Taiwanese crime ring in Makati City, the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission reported yesterday.

PAOCC executive director Gilbert Cruz said Jiang Xiadong, who also goes by the name Liu Ming Chung, is wanted in Taiwan for various crimes.

Jiang, whose group is linked to scams, was arrested during a joint operation by the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and Makati police at around 9 p.m. at One Ayala.

The PAOCC chief said Jiang and his cohorts occupied a condominium unit at Rockwell Center, which the CIDG raided on March 20, 2023. A total of 85 firearms of various calibers were seized during the raid.

Cruz said Jiang has warrants of arrest for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
