MANILA, Philippines — To bring “holiday cheer and support” to its constituents, the Malabon city government distributed financial aid to 84,040 residents yesterday, the city public information office said.

The cash assistance, it added, can be claimed through BancNet-powered ATMs and Universal Storefront Services Corp. (USSC) branches. It can also be used as a debit card for purchases at drugstores, fast food chains, supermarkets, malls and other stores with point-of-sale machines.

The financial aid distribution, which started yesterday and runs until Dec. 20, coincides with the second anniversary of the city’s Malabon Ahon Blue Card (MABC) program, celebrated on Dec. 22.

Beneficiaries will receive a notification through text message from the USSC when their cash aid becomes available. Names of eligible recipients are also posted on the MABC Facebook page.
