30 tons of giant clam shells seized in Sulu

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — Authorities seized 30 tons of giant clam shells, worth P45 million, during a raid in Patikul town in Sulu over the weekend.
Giant clam, locally known as taklobo, is classified as a protected species under the fishery laws.
Maj. Fritze Madrid, Sulu maritime police station chief, said the clam shells were piled in a vacant lot in Barangay Taglibi.
