Communist leader nabbed in Olongapo
MANILA, Philippines — A communist leader, with a P7.8-million bounty for his capture, was arrested during a manhunt in Barangay Gordon Heights in Olongapo City, the police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) announced yesterday.
The CIDG said the rebel, identified only as alias Ka Dindo, is a former peace consultant of the National Democratic Front of the Philippines and leader of the New People’s Army national military staff, overseeing military campaigns and managing rebel groups in the Visayas and Mindanao.
Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil, Philippine National Police chief, said the suspect, who had evaded authorities for 18 years, is in the National Most Wanted Persons list of the Departments of National Defense and of the Interior and Local Government.
Ka Dindo is wanted for robbery with double homicide, damage to property and 15 counts of murder.
