CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — A used car dealer was killed while his wife was wounded after they were shot by a man who posed as a buyer in Dasmariñas, Cavite on Wednesday night.

Edzcel Lumboy, 46, was found dead in his car, while his wife, Jackelou, 44, managed to seek help, according to Lt. Col. Julius Balano, Dasmariñas police chief.

Jackelou was rushed to a nearby hospital. She told probers that she and her husband met up with a man who posed as a buyer of used cars in Barangay Langkaan 1 at past 8 p.m.

The man, whom the victims met through social media, sat behind Lumboy, who was driving the car.

The suspect instructed Lumboy to drive toward Asiungan area, where he shot the victims before fleeing.

Balano said probers are eyeing robbery as the motive for the crime. He said the couple’s money amounting to P400,000 was missing.

Meanwhile, in South Cotabato, a man and his wife were killed by unidentified assailants in Norala town on Thursday.

Reports said Rommel Crisostomo and his wife, Gina, were traveling in Barangay Puti when the assailants pulled over in a tricycle and shot them multiple times.
