Neri Naig released from BJMP custody
MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology yesterday released actress and businesswoman Neri Naig from BJMP custody following a court order.
BJMP spokesman Superintendent Jayrex Bustinera said they freed Naig after receiving the order from the Pasay Regional Trial Court Branch 112.
“Yes, we confirm her release from the Pasay City jail’s female dormitory. The release papers were served at the hospital,” Bustinera said.
The BJMP said it verified Naig’s pending cases and warrant following protocol before she was released from detention.
Naig is facing charges of estafa and 14 counts of violating the Securities Regulation Code.
She was arrested on Nov. 23 in the parking lot of a mall in Pasay.
