Quiboloy no longer hopes for Camp Crame transfer
MANILA, Philippines — The camp of alleged child abuser Apollo Quiboloy will no longer insist on his transfer from the Pasig City jail to the Philippine National Police (PNP) custodial facility at Camp Crame in Quezon City.
Israelito Torreon, lawyer for the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC), said that while they still feel that Quiboloy would be more secure at Camp Crame, insisting on it “might be useless.”
Quiboloy has asked a Pasig court to reverse its decision granting the prosecution’s request to transfer the preacher from Camp Crame, where he was first detained, to the Pasig City jail.
Torreon said he is considering withdrawing the pending motion for reconsideration.
Torreon was at the Department of Justice for the continuation of the preliminary investigation on the malicious mischief complaint filed by former president Rodrigo Duterte, being the administrator of the KOJC properties, against former interior and local government secretary Benhur Abalos and PNP chief Gen. Rommel Marbil.
Duterte would file on Dec. 16 his reply to the counter-affidavit filed by Abalos and the other respondents, Torreon said.
The KOJC, through another set of lawyers, will file counter-affidavits in the cases of illegal assembly, obstruction of justice and other charges filed by the government against church members in Davao City, which were dismissed and re-filed in Manila.
Torreon said Quiboloy is “doing OK” at the Pasig City jail, noting that he has cellmates there.
The lawyer said Quiboloy has access to his lawyers and medical care.
Quiboloy was brought to the Philippine Heart Center on Nov. 8 after complaining of chest pain.
The Pasig City Regional Trial Court, which ordered Quiboloy’s transfer to the city jail, is handling the religious leader’s human trafficking case.
Quiboloy is also facing child and sexual abuse charges, which were originally filed in Davao and transferred to Quezon City.
