Fires hit 2 Quezon City areas

MANILA, Philippines — Two areas in Quezon City were hit by fires last Friday night.

In Barangay Bahay Toro, eight families or 15 people were left homeless after a fire hit houses in Hayaville Subdivision.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)’s National Capital Region field unit said the fire broke out at around 7:20 p.m. and reached first alarm.

Firefighters doused the fire at 8:16 p.m., according to a BFP report.

A public safety officer at the barangay hall said the displaced residents sought shelter at an evacuation center.

There was no casualty in the fire.

A fire also hit a building occupied by Salmel Corp. along Camarilla Street in Barangay San Roque.

The fire started at 10:56 p.m. and reached first alarm before it was put out yesterday at around 12:16 a.m.

Arson probers said the fire originated in a storage room on the second floor.

Investigators have yet to determine the cause of the fires.
