Quiboloy transferred to Pasig City Jail
MANILA, Philippines — Controversial evangelist Apollo Quiboloy was transferred to the Pasig City Jail Male Dormitory after his extended medical furlough ended yesterday afternoon.
From the Philippine Heart Center (PHC) in Quezon City, the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) founder was brought to the city jail instead of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center, where he has been detained since his arrest on Sept. 8.
A video shared by the PNP showed Quiboloy on a wheelchair as he was escorted by police officers out of the hospital grounds.
PNP public information officer Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo said the police convoy that transported Quiboloy left the PHC at 4:23 p.m. and arrived at the Pasig City Jail in Barangay Pinagbuhatan at 5:05 p.m.
Quiboloy’s lawyer Israelito Torreon was present when the PNP turned over the KOJC founder to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP)’s custody.
Quiboloy’s transfer to another detention facility was in compliance with an order from the Pasig City Regional Trial Court Branch 159.
The BJMP said it would not accord special treatment to Quiboloy, who is facing cases of qualified human trafficking and child abuse before the Pasig and Quezon City courts.
