CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga, Philippines — A 49-year-old farmer was gunned down and his two companions were wounded when a government employee allegedly shot them over a land dispute in Barangay San Juan, San Jose City in Nueva Ecija on Sunday.
Col. Ferdinand Gemino, Nueva Ecija police director, identified the fatality as Alfredo Medriano and his wounded companions as 17-year-old Meltan Medriano and Mario Matic, 63.
Gemino identified the suspect as Michael Jaboc, a local government employee who is now the subject of pursuit operations.
Initial investigation showed that Matic and Jaboc were arguing over a parcel of land when the latter pulled out a gun and fired at the victims.
Matic and the Medrianos were rushed to the Ospital ng Lungsod ng San Jose for treatment. However, Alfredo was pronounced dead on arrival.
