BuCor bans social media use in all facilities

MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) has ordered a ban on social media use across all BuCor facilities nationwide.

BuCor director general Gregorio Pio Catapang Jr. issued the order last Friday, just a day after implementing a no-cellphone policy, reflecting a focused effort to eliminate distractions and safeguard the operations within correctional institutions.

Catapang instructed superintendents, prison directors and office heads to enforce the ban to ensure compliance.

He warned that any personnel caught violating the social media prohibition would face administrative sanctions.

While social media use is prohibited, BuCor personnel are allowed to communicate using official email platforms such as Gmail or Yahoo.
