BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines — Up to 25 workers from five power cooperatives in Northern Luzon were deployed in this province yesterday to help restore power lines and posts destroyed by Super Typhoon Pepito.

Among the workers were linemen from power cooperatives in Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur and Pangasinan, according to Fredel Salvador, general manager of the Nueva Vizcaya Electric Cooperative.

Salvador said areas served by the Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Norte, Pangasinan 1 and 3, and  Central Pangasinan electric cooperatives have been without power for several days due to Pepito.

“With the help of expert linemen, we are expecting power to be fully restored within two to three days,” Salvador said.

Meanwhile, the seven casualties in a landslide that struck the town of Ambaguio at the height of Pepito were buried on Tuesday.

The victims were members of a family whose house was buried under soil and rock in Barangay Labang on Sunday night.

Nueva Vizcaya Gov. Jose Gambito said a couple and their four-year-old son were rescued and rushed to the hospital.
