COTABATO CITY, Philippines — A vice mayoral candidate was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Tantangan, South Cotabato on Monday.
Jose Osorio, chief of Barangay Bukay Pait, died at the scene of the incident. He suffered six gunshot wounds.
The victim was running for vice mayor of Tantangan in the 2025 midterm elections.
Reports said the assailants barged into a compound where Osorio’s house is located and shot him without provocation.
Probers have yet to determine the motive for the killing.
