MANILA, Philippines — Davao City Rep. Paolo “Polong” Duterte tested negative in a hair follicle drug examination conducted on Oct. 23, his office said yesterday.

A document dated Oct. 29 and released by Duterte’s camp showed the lawmaker negative for illegal drug use.

Duterte submitted himself to a hair follicle drug test after his opponent in the Davao congressional race, PBA party-list Rep. Margarita Ignacia “Migs” Nograles, challenged him to show a new drug test result.

Nograles hurled the challenge after Duterte posted on social media the result of an old hair follicle test he underwent.

Duterte was the first to dare Nograles to submit themselves to a drug test, which she accepted with another challenge for them to do it together.

Duterte had himself tested in a clinic in Manila while Nograles had hers in Davao City.

The examination, known as the hair 7 drug panel test, was done by Omega Laboratories, a certified testing facility that screens multiple drugs, including amphetamine, methamphetamine, cocaine/metabolites, opiates, extended opiates, phencyclidine, THC metabolite (marijuana) and benzodiazepines.
