MANILA, Philippines — Police have beefed up security in Quezon City ahead of the observance of All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days.

A security contingent of 7,647 police personnel, barangay watchmen and other force multipliers will secure people who are expected to visit six cemeteries and 26 columbaria in the city.

Col. Melecio Buslig Jr., director of the Quezon City Police District, said QCPD personnel would also be stationed in bus terminals, mass rail transits and other transportation hubs.

He said 2,609 of the 4,786 police contingent would be posted in malls, markets, parks and places of worship.

Police have also readied 295 motorcycles, 108 patrol cars, four ambulances, 225 bicycles, two buses and other mobility assets for quick response.

Police assistance desks will be set up in cemeteries and columbaria.

The QCPD’s drone squadron will monitor crowded areas using five drones.

To bolster security, Buslig said they would conduct regular patrols and checkpoint operations around Quezon Cty.

Meanwhile, the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 will implement heightened security from Oct. 31 to Nov. 5 to ensure passenger safety during Undas.
