Go extends help to typhoon victims in Sibugay

MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Bong Go extended assistance to families displaced by typhoons in Tungawan, Zamboanga Sibugay on Friday.

In coordination with Tungawan Mayor Carlnan Climaco, Go and his team distributed grocery packs in Barangay Upper Tungawan, bringing immediate assistance to people whose homes and livelihood were damaged in the bad weather.

“I urged all my countrymen here in Tungawan to stay strong in the face of all the challenges brought by typhoons. Your safety and welfare are our priority,” Go said as he thanked the local government and its partners for helping the residents.

Go is pushing for the passage of two critical disaster preparedness measures: Senate Bills 188 and SB 2451.

SB 188 seeks to create the Department of Disaster Resilience (DDR), which will streamline disaster management efforts under a singular, Cabinet-level agency dedicated to bolstering the nation’s resilience against calamities.

Go said the DDR would prioritize disaster risk reduction, preparedness, response and recovery.

Complementing SB 188, Go co-sponsored and authored SB 2451 or the Ligtas Pinoy Centers Act, which aims to make evacuation centers safe, accessible and well-equipped.

With these legislative measures, Go continues to affirm his commitment to disaster preparedness, healthcare accessibility and public service.
