80 families left homeless in Quezon City, Parañaque fires

The BFP National Capital Region field office said a fire broke out at around 2:34 p.m. last Friday afternoon in a slum community in Barangay Marcelo Green in Parañaque and reached the third alarm.

MANILA, Philippines — Around 80 families have been left homeless after residential areas in Parañaque and Quezon City were hit by fires, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said yesterday.

The BFP National Capital Region field office said a fire broke out at around 2:34 p.m. last Friday afternoon in a slum community in Barangay Marcelo Green in Parañaque and reached the third alarm.

Firefighters on board 17 fire trucks doused the fire by 5:39 p.m. after destroying several shanties and displacing at least 70 families.

Investigators have yet to determine the cause of the fire.

Meanwhile, around 10 families were left homeless after a fire that broke out at around 1:57 a.m. engulfed and destroyed a two-story residential building in Barangay Tatalon, Quezon City yesterday.

The fire reached the second alarm before it was controlled by firefighters at around 2:25 p.m.

There were no casualties in the two fire incidents.
