MANILA, Philippines — A state of calamity was declared in four towns in Quezon province, citing heavy damage caused by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine.

The local government units of Tagkawayan, Mulanay, General Luna and Lucban towns issued the declaration to access the calamity fund needed to help residents affected by Kristine.

According to the Quezon Provincial Disaster Reduction and Management Office, at least 9,568 families or 32,529 people are temporarily staying in evacuation centers.

The Quezon provincial board and the Department of Social Welfare and Development also continue to deliver relief goods to affected residents.
