MANILA, Philippines — With two public hospitals in Manila reaching full capacity, residents are advised to go to other health facilities for medical assistance.

Emergency rooms and wards are full at the Ospital ng Maynila and Gat Andres Bonifacio Medical Center, the Department of Health (DOH) announced yesterday.

“While medical services in these hospitals have been continuing, we apologize for the limited space for patients,” the hospitals’ joint public advisory read.

No specific disease or incident is causing the hospitals to operate at full capacity, Health Assistant Secretary Albert Domingo said.

The DOH said it is coordinating with the Manila city government and the hospitals’ management.

“We want to ensure that the treatment of patients is optimized within the two health facilities,” Domingo said.

“It is routine and prudent for hospitals to announce when they are unable to admit additional patients,” he added.

Patients can go to the San Lazaro Hospital, Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center and Philippine General Hospital, Domingo said.
