MANILA, Philippines — Minimum wage earners and domestic workers in Ilocos region will receive higher pay starting Nov. 7, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) announced on Monday.

The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) approved an increase of P33 in the daily wage of workers in the agriculture and non-agriculture sectors.

The increase brings to P468 the minimum daily pay of workers in the non-agriculture sector employing 10 or more workers, and P435 in the agriculture sector with below 10 workers.

The DOLE said the National Wages and Productivity Commission affirmed the wage increase through Wage Order No. RB 1-23 issued on Oct. 16.

Aside from the daily wage earners, the RTWPB also granted an increase of P500 to domestic workers or kasambahay, making their minimum monthly salary P6,000.

The labor department said up to 170,143 minimum wage earners in the region would directly benefit from the wage order.

The DOLE said up to 349,112 workers would indirectly benefit from the pay hike as a result of the wage distortion.

It said up to 99,024 household workers would benefit from the wage hike.
