MANILA, Philippines — Three suspects posing as agents of the National Bureau of Investigation in an attempt to extort money from a store in Parañaque were arrested on Saturday.

The suspects, identified only through their aliases as Bernard, 44; Lenon, 24, and John, 29, allegedly presented a fake search warrant claiming the store sold illegal tobacco and cigarettes.

They reportedly demanded P100,000 from the store owner.

Charges of robbery, extortion, usurpation of authority, malicious mischief, grave threat and falsification of documents have been filed against the suspects before the Parañaque prosecutor’s office.
