BFAR: No red tide in Central Luzon

BFAR said the shellfish samples collected in the region are free from the toxic red tide or paralytic shellfish poison.

SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, Philippines — Shellfish in Central Luzon are free from the toxic red tide, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) said in its report on Friday.

BFAR said the shellfish samples collected in the region are free from the toxic red tide or paralytic shellfish poison.

Based on the agency’s Shellfish Bulletin 26, the coastal waters of Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan and Zambales provinces are safe from the water toxin.

All types of shellfish gathered from these areas are safe for human consumption, it added.
