2 ‘gunrunners’ nabbed in Maguindanao del Norte

COTABATO CITY , Philippines — Two suspected  gunrunners were arrested in a sting in Sultan Mastura, Maguindanao del Norte on Tuesday.

The suspects, identified as Taher Baomba and Daw Rivas, reportedly yielded a rifle, ammunition, phone and marked money, according to Brig. Gen. Romeo Juan Macapaz, Bangsamoro police director.

Baomba and Rivas were placed under the custody of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, Lt. Col. Ariel Huesca, Bangsamoro-CIDG chief, said.

Huesca said the sting was conducted after residents of Barangay Tambo reported the illegal activities of the suspects.

The suspects will be charged with violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
