PhlPost opens drive-thru post office in Davao City
MANILA, Philippines — Postal transactions in Davao City are expected to become more efficient and convenient following the opening of the Philippine Postal Corp. (PHLPost)’s first drive-through post office.
PHLPost said the first drive-through post office was opened on Oct. 11 and would complement the Davao City Post Office.
Postmaster General Luis Carlos said the idea of the drive-through post office was borne out of the difficulty in accessing the area where the Davao City Post Office is located.
Luis said aside from traffic, the area has limited parking space.
He said the innovation in the postal service came up after the city government issued an ordinance regulating traffic flow.
“This represents a forward-thinking approach for postal service delivery, offering a more accessible and client-friendly solution while complying with traffic regulations,” Carlos said.
Transactions at the drive-through are expected to take only five to eight minutes per customer.
The drive-through allows clients to send and receive domestic or international registered and express mails in one quick stop.
The project is in line with the city’s goal to improve vehicular flow around the post office, according to Eastern Mindanao Postal Area director Rose Tubal.
PHLPost will designate an area where clients can park their vehicles and complete their transactions.
The public has been advised to call the post office in advance before picking up their mails or parcels.
