COTABATO CITY, Philippines — A commander of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front was killed in an ambush in this city on Sunday.
Norodin Alipulo Mama died at the scene of the ambush that occurred in Barangay Tamontaka 2.
Mama’s companion, Esmael Balabagan, was taken to a hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds.
Mama and Balabagan were in a multicab when they were attacked by motorcycle-riding men along the Sultan Kudarat-Cotabato-Datu Odin Sinsuat Diversion Road.
Police said Mama was a supporter of the government’s anti-narcotics campaign in Maguindanao del Norte.
