MANILA, Philippines —  Up to 729 graduates of the Navotas Polytechnic College have received P1.09 million in cash incentives from the city government.

The new graduates got their cash rewards in a ceremony last Friday, according to the city’s public information office.

Each graduate received P1,500 in cash, which the local government said is in recognition of their educational achievement.

Recently, 59 out-of-school youth in Navotas have completed free skill training from the Navotas Vocational Training and Assessment Institute.

Twenty of them earned a national certification in shielded metal arc welding while another 20 passed the training as baristas.

The remaining 19 completed a bread and pastry production course.

Mayor John Rey Tiangco commended the graduates for their commitment and perseverance, emphasizing the value of continuous learning and skills development.
