Airport cops nab passenger for carrying live ammo

The 60-year-old passenger from Pandi, Bulacan bound for Cagayan de Oro was arrested after the Office for Transportation Security personnel discovered the 11 caliber .22 ammunition in the passenger’s luggage during routine baggage screening at the final security checkpoint.

MANILA, Philippines — A senior citizen was arrested at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2 yesterday after police discovered that his carry-on bag contained 11 live bullets for a pistol.

The 60-year-old passenger from Pandi, Bulacan bound for Cagayan de Oro was arrested after the Office for Transportation Security personnel discovered the 11 caliber .22 ammunition in the passenger’s luggage during routine baggage screening at the final security checkpoint.

The arrested passenger failed to provide legal documents to possess the ammunition and was immediately taken into custody by the Philippine National Police-Aviation Security Group (PNP-AVSEGROUP) for violating Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

“This arrest highlights the unwavering commitment of our group, along with other airport authorities, to ensure the safety of airport users and uphold the law,” said Brig. Gen. Christopher Abrahano, director of the PNP-AVSEGROUP.
