Government work, classes suspended in Manila, Pasay October 14-15

MANILA, Philippines —   Work in government offices and classes at all levels in Manila and Pasay will be suspended from Oct. 14 to 15 for an international conference on disaster risk reduction, Malacañang announced yesterday.

The two-day work and class suspension was announced through Memorandum Circular No. 66 signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin yesterday.

The memorandum circular noted that the Philippines, in partnership with the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction, is hosting the 10th session of the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay.

Government agencies involved in the delivery of basic and health services, disaster and calamity preparedness and response as well as other vital services shall continue their operations.

The suspension of work in private companies and offices was left to the discretion of their respective heads.
