3 suspects in college student’s slay charged

MANILA, Philippines — Criminal charges were filed against three men implicated in the killing of a college student in Pasig on Monday, police said yesterday.

Eastern Police District director Brig. Gen. Wilson Asueta said cases of qualified car theft with homicide were filed against the suspects before the city prosecutor’s office.

Asueta said the suspects, whom he did not identify, were responsible for the death of Allan Vincent Eugenio, 22.

Eugenio, who worked as a part-time food delivery rider,  was parking his motorcycle in front of his house in Barangay Bambang when the suspects arrived.

One of the suspects pulled out a handgun and fired at Eugenio multiple times, probers said.

The suspects took the victim’s motorcycle and sped off toward an unknown direction.

Eugenio’s mother said she went outside after hearing gunshots and found him slumped on the ground.

Eugenio was taken to the hospital where he died from gunshots to the body.

Police said the suspects were apprehended during a follow-up operation.
