MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority collected 132 sacks of garbage from Manila Bay’s dolomite beach during a coastal cleanup conducted by the MMDA.

Personnel from the agency’s Metro Parkways Clearing Group cleaned the man-made beach, which was littered with debris that washed ashore from Manila Bay.

Among the waste collected were dried plants, wood, bamboo, plastic bottles, candy wrappers and food packages.

The MMDA called on the public to observe proper waste disposal by not throwing garbage into waterways, to prevent flooding in Metro Manila.
