Go provides aid to Bulacan calamity victims
MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Bong Go collaborated with the local government of Hagonoy in Bulacan in providing assistance to poor residents and victims of calamities on Wednesday.
The outreach program highlighted Go’s commitment to uplift the life of people displaced by calamities.
“I made it a point to be with you today to assure you of help. Some of you thanked me earlier for the help you received from my office. I should be the one thanking you for giving me the opportunity to serve,” Go said.
Up to 1,500 beneficiaries received grocery packs, meals, vitamins, shirts, face masks, fans and sports equipment from Go and his team. A select few receive pairs of shoes, bicycles, mobile phones and watches.
Go and Mayor Baby Manlapaz distributed financial support to qualified beneficiaries.
Manlapaz thanked Go for helping her constituents recover from the effects of the calamity.
Go has been pushing the passage of his measure, Senate Bill 188 or the Department of Disaster Resilience (DDR) Act, which seeks to establish an agency dedicated on creating adaptive and resilient communities.
If enacted into law, the DDR Act will prioritize disaster risk reduction, preparedness and response as well as recovery and rehabiltation.
