Nograles unable to discuss resignation from CSC with Marcos Jr.

MANILA, Philippines — Former Civil Service Commission chairman Karlo Nograles was not able to discuss personally with President Marcos his decision to resign as CSC chief.

In an interview last Tuesday with “Storycon” on One News, Nograles said he instructed his staff in Manila to email his resignation letter to Malacañang.

“I sent my resignation letter yesterday (Monday). I did not have a chance to talk to him as I tendered my resignation,” Nograles said, referring to Marcos.

Nograles filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) for mayor of Davao City on Tuesday. He said he is running as an independent.

“I have no party. Running independent, primarily to welcome all and anyone who wants to help, anyone who wants to change, anyone who believes in this cause, anyone who wants to support,” he said.

Nograles said all the help he could get would be accepted by his camp and would be used to solve  the problems of Davao.

“This is really up to the people. The fact that we’re just offering ourselves to the people and making them decide is a big step already here in Davao City, regardless of who will be my opponent eventually,” he said.

Nograles, who is running against former president Rodrigo Duterte, denied that he is backed by the Marcos administration.
