MANILA, Philippines — Anti-narcotics agents intercepted yesterday 16.34 kilos of shabu valued at more than P111 million in Pasay.

The illegal drugs, which were declared as a parcel containing hand-made cultural craft paintings, were discovered during an interdiction operation in a warehouse at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, according to Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) spokesman Derrick Carreon.

Carreon said the parcel originated from Mexico City and was consigned to a resident of San Jose del Monte City, Bulacan.

He said each painting contained wax mixed with shabu.

The illegal drugs were turned over to the PDEA Laboratory Service for examination.

An investigation is ongoing to identify the sources of the contraband, Carreon said.
