MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Justice (DOJ) will seek the extradition of Dalia Guerrero Pastor for her alleged involvement as co-conspirator in the murder of her husband, racer Enzo Pastor, in 2014.
The DOJ, along with the Department of the Interior and Local Government, will work with their counterparts in Indonesia and Malaysia, where Dalia is believed to be hiding, to bring her back to the Philippines.
Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla said he would “not take sitting down” reports that Dalia left the country to evade justice.
Last week, the Supreme Court overturned the Court of Appeals’ dismissal of parricide charges filed against Pastor’s widow and reinstated the arrest warrant and hold-departure order issued against her.
“The DOJ will join our partner agencies in hunting down the mastermind in the murder of Enzo Pastor,” Remulla has said.
“Ten years have passed, and this is the time to prove that the present administration will do whatever it takes to get the job done at all costs,” he added.
Based on court records, Enzo was in a truck heading to Clark, Pampanga with his mechanic, Paolo Salazar, when they were ambushed while stopped at a traffic light at the intersection of Visayas and Congressional Avenues in Quezon City in 2014.
The alleged gunman, former police officer Edgar Angel, approached the driver’s side of the truck and fired at Enzo, causing his death.
Aside from Dalia, DOJ prosecutors charged Domingo de Guzman III as alleged co-conspirator and lover of Dalia.
Angel and De Guzman were arrested by police. Dalia remains at large.
