MANILA, Philippines — An ambulance carrying seven people was flagged for unauthorized use of the EDSA bus lane, the Department of Transportation (DOTr)’s Special Action and Intelligence Committee for Transportation reported yesterday.

A traffic enforcer stopped the ambulance at the Ortigas station of the busway on Oct. 5.

The ambulance belongs to Barangay Malaban in Biñan City, Laguna, based on the stickers attached to the vehicle.

According to the DOTr, the ambulance carried “seven people, including a child, who appeared to be returning from an excursion.”

The ambulance driver was issued a citation ticket for illegally entering the EDSA bus lane.

Ambulances not carrying patients are prohibited from using the EDSA Carousel, the DOTr said.

Unauthorized motorists passing through the EDSA busway will be fined up to P30,000 and their driver’s license suspended.
