Pasay POGO hub raid nets 6 Chinese bosses
MANILA, Philippines — Six of the over 260 people rounded up in a Philippine offshore gaming operator hub in Pasay City on Thursday night are Chinese nationals and POGO big bosses.
Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) executive director Gilbert Cruz said the bosses are all Chinese nationals.
“Around six so far,” Cruz said in a message on Viber, adding that there may be more.
Joint teams from the PAOCC, National Bureau of Investigation, Philippine National Police, Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Bureau of Immigration and other law enforcement agencies raided the 3D Analyzer Information Technologies Inc. along J.W. Diokno Boulevard at around 7 p.m.
A total of 261 workers – 188 foreigners and 73 Filipinos – were rounded up in the operation.
While the POGO is registered as an internet gaming licensee with the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp., Cruz said he received information that the firm is engaged in scamming activities.
Their suspicions were confirmed after they found multiple computer screens, cell phones and desktop computers in the scam farm.
Cruz said hundreds of pre-registered international and local SIM cards were found.
