MANILA, Philippines — A road rage incident between two vehicles at the corner of Sen. Gil Puyat Avenue and Roxas Boulevard in Pasay City escalated into shooting early yesterday morning.

The crash involved a BMW and a Honda sedan, damaging the front parts of both cars.

The airbags in the Honda deployed upon impact, according to a report on “Dobol B TV.”

Pasay City Police Chief Colonel Samuel Pabonita confirmed in an interview that initial investigations point to road rage as the cause of the altercation.

“Based on our initial investigation during our assessment, this is a case of road rage,” Pabonita said.

One of the vehicles reportedly crashed into the other, which led to an exchange of gunfire.

“The passenger of this BMW got out and shot at the other car and there was an exchange of shots,” he said.

Police patrols in the area immediately responded to the situation.

Based on initial assessments, the individuals involved were reportedly foreign nationals, possibly of Chinese descent.

Three individuals have been taken into police custody following the incident, and further investigation is underway to determine the full details of the incident.

No injuries were reported despite the exchange of gunfire, but both vehicles were damaged, according to Pabonita.

Police also recovered firearms, which are currently being examined for licenses.

The investigation is ongoing and authorities are reviewing nearby closed-circuit television footage for additional information.
