Village chief shot dead in Ilocos Norte

CAMP FLORENDO, La Union, Philippines — The chairman of Barangay 5 in San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte was gunned down by unidentified men inside his house late Friday.

According to a police report, victim Francisco Bagay Jr. was resting at his garage when two men shot him several times with a .45 caliber pistol.

Relatives rushed Bagay to the Black Nazarene Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

Police are reviewing the recording of closed-circuit television cameras installed nearby to establish a possible motive and the identities of the assailants.
