MANILA, Philippines — Approximately P34 million worth of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu was seized by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in a drug sting in Barangay Sagana in Bongabong, Oriental Mindoro.
NBI chief Jaime Santiago said five packs of shabu concealed in Chinese tea bags and weighing about five kilos were seized from suspects Luis delos Reyes Baes and Lyn Ylagan Baes.
Agents also recovered the fake paper bills used in the sting, a pick-up truck, two mobile phones, identification cards and a passport.
The operation was conducted by NBI-MIMAROPA, along with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and Bongabong Municipal Police Station.
Meanwhile, anti-narcotics police in Negros Occidental arrested four alleged drug pushers during a sting in Barangay Mansilingan in Bacolod City on Thursday.
Western Visayas police director Brig. Gen. Jack Wanky said the officers confiscated 350 grams of shabu worth P2.38 million from the suspects he identified by their aliases Jesus, Junjie, John Mark and Jezelle.
