ILOILO CITY, Philippines — Two people died in a collision involving a wing van and a cement mixer truck in Leganes, Iloilo on Tuesday.

Truck driver Fermin Gamarcha Jr., 40, and van helper Niño Miranda, 45, were declared dead on arrival in a hospital.

Van driver Rhyan Ramos, 41, and his helper, Jomar Sonza, 22, were injured in the incident.

Reports said the truck was traveling in Barangay  Calaboa when it collided with the van.

Capt. John Robles, Leganes police chief, said one of the van’s tires burst, causing Ramos to lose control of the wheel.

The impact pinned the drivers and Miranda in their seats. It took hours for responding police officers to remove them.

Sonza was thrown off the van. Investigation is ongoing.
