Cybercrimes in Quezon City down by nearly 34 percent
MANILA, Philippines — Cybercrime cases in Quezon City for the month of August decreased by nearly 34 percent, police reported yesterday.
Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director, said 105 cybercrimes were recorded last month.
The figure is lower by 33.96 percent compared to 159 cybercrime incidents last July.
Police also resolved 146 or 92.38 percent of the cases last August. In July, 91.82 percent or 146 of the incidents were solved.
Maranan lauded the QCPD’s anti-cybercrime team for addressing cybercrimes such as online scams, illegal access, ATM and credit card fraud, computer-related identity theft, online libel and online threats.
Police cybercrime investigators also handled complaints of unjust vexation, grave coercion and violation of Republic Act 11313, or the Safe Spaces Act.
The QCPD earlier reported that crime volume in the city went down by 21.48 percent, from 1,350 to 1,060.
