MANILA, Philippines — The local government of Muntinlupa will implement a liquor ban during the 2024 Bar examinations on Sept. 8, 11 and 15.

City hall said the liquor ban would cover a 500-meter radius around San Beda College-Alabang (SBCA), one of the testing centers for the Bar exams.

The SBCA will also serve as this year’s national headquarters for the Bar examinations.

The liquor ban will be enforced beginning Sept. 7.

There are 13 testing sites for this year’s Bar exams, compared to 14 in 2023.

These include five other locations in the National Capital Region: University of the Philippines-Diliman in Quezon City, University of Santo Tomas and San Beda University in Manila, Manila Adventist College in Pasay and University of the Philippines-Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.

Saint Louis University in Baguio City and University of Nueva Caceres in Naga City are the designated testing centers for Luzon.

University of San Jose-Recoletos in Cebu City, Central Philippine University in Iloilo City and Dr. V. Orestes Romualdez Educational Foundation in Tacloban City are the testing sites for the Visayas.

For Mindanao, the testing centers will be located at Xavier University in Cagayan de Oro City and Ateneo de Davao University in Davao City.

The Bar examinations will cover six core subjects: Political and Public International Law (15 percent); Commercial and Taxation Laws (20 percent); Civil Law (20 percent); Labor Law and Social Legislation (10 percent); Criminal Law (10 percent), and Remedial Law, Legal and Judicial Ethics with Practical Exercises (25 percent).

Up to 12,246 law graduates have registered for the Bar exams, according to the Supreme Court.
