Village chief gunned down in Cavite

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — A barangay chairman was killed in an attack by motorcycle-riding men in Maragondon, Cavite on Saturday.

Rodrigo Tanagas, 53, of Barangay Tulay-A, was leading a cleanup activity in the village when a motorcycle with two men on board pulled over at around 7:15 a.m.

One of the men approached Tanagas and a spat reportedly ensued between them.

The man reportedly drew out a gun and shot the victim twice before fleeing with his compaion.

Tanagas died while being rushed to a hospital.

Probers have yet to determine the motive for the killing and identify the assailants.
