Quakes rock Mindanao areas

MANILA, Philippines — Moderate earthquakes rocked areas in Mindanao for two consecutive days, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.

Phivolcs said a magnitude 4.3 temblor jolted Davao Oriental yesterday morning, with its epicenter located 237 kilometers south of Sarangani town in the nearby province of Davao Occidental.

On Saturday afternoon, a magnitude 4.4 temblor hit Lanao del Sur, with its epicenter located four kilometers north of Amai Manabilang town.

The quake was tectonic in origin and might generate aftershocks or damage to property, Phivolcs said. It was felt at Intensities 3 and 2 in Kalilangan and Pangantukan in Bukidnon, respectively.
