8 injured in Antipolo vehicular mishap

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — Eight people were injured when a jeepney hit nine vehicles before crashing into concrete barriers in Antipolo, Rizal on Saturday.

Jeepney driver Roy Franco, 45, and seven drivers of the vehicles that figured in the accident were taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries.

Franco told probers that he was traveling along Sumulong Highway in Barangay Dela Paz when his jeepney lost its brakes.

Antipolo police chief Lt. Col. Ryan Manonggo said Franco was charged with reckless imprudence resulting in multiple damage to property with physical injury before the office of the provincial prosecutor.

Manonggo said Franco and the injured drivers agreed to settle the matter amicably.
