MANILA, Philippines — Smuggled vape products valued at P19.075 million have been confiscated in separate operations in Manila and Laguna, the Bureau of Customs (BOC) reported yesterday.

Vape devices, pods and disposable vapes worth P6.475 million were found at a warehouse in Quiapo, Manila on Aug. 23.

Suspected smuggled motorcycle parts and accessories amounting to P75 million were also discovered.

In Laguna, disposable vapes amounting to P12.6 million were seized at a shop in San Pedro City.

BOC personnel padlocked the two warehouses.

“Stopping the trafficking of smuggled products is crucial in preventing criminal rings from profiting from unsuspecting consumers,” Customs Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio said.

“I appeal to our consumers: buying smuggled products puts your health at risk because by not going through the proper process, the safety of these vapes is compromised,” he added.

Customs personnel beefed up border patrol amid growing patronage of imported vape products in recent years.

The owners of the two raided establishments may face charges for violating the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act, Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines, Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion Law and the National Tobacco Administration Board Resolution 079-2005.
