Bong Go helps struggling CDO residents
MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Bong Go urged Filipinos to bolster bayanihan initiatives to hasten the nation’s recovery from various challenges as he visited communities in Cagayan de Oro City to help vulnerable sectors.
Go reiterated the importance of working together for the betterment of communities and uplifting the lives and livelihoods of struggling sectors.
“I kept hearing people thanking me for the help they receive from the Malasakit Center. Do not thank me because it is my job. I should be the one thanking you because you gave me the opportunity to serve you all,” Go said during his speech on Thursday.
Go distributed grocery packs, shirts, sports balls, vitamins, sling bags and snacks to 1,000 identified low-income individuals. He also gave bicycles, shoes, mobile phone and a watch to select beneficiaries.
As chairman of the Senate committee on youth, Go emphasized the importance of education and youth empowerment as cornerstones towards a better future.
He cited the case of Van Jason Arellano who, during the pandemic, sought his help to secure a laptop for his studies.
Arellano finished his Bachelor of Science in Information Technology degree at Mindanao State University in Naawan, Misamis Oriental.
“Van Jason’s journey is a testament to hard work and perseverance. I am personally proud to have supported him in his academic endeavors. His success today is a reflection of his dedication and to the supportive community around him,” Go said.
