MANILA, Philippines — Manuel V. Pangilinan, chairman of TV5, has terminated a program manager over a sexual abuse complaint filed by a 22-year-old news researcher.
In a Facebook post, Sen. Raffy Tulfo said Pangilinan disclosed the results of the probe into the sexual harassment case filed against TV5 News and Public Affairs program manager Cliff Gingco.
“The investigation showed that there’s a strong evidence against Gingco. That’s why TV5 has decided to terminate him,” Tulfo said.
On Aug. 9, the victim sought assistance from the senator’s program, “Raffy Tulfo in Action.”
The victim alleged that the sexual abuse took place at a hotel in Pasig City on July 23.
“Tulfo sent a letter to MVP about the incident to ensure a fair investigation and cover-up would not happen. Chairman MVP responded immediately,” the Facebook post read.
Quoting Pangilinan, TV5 said the victim would be provided medical assistance such as therapy, among others.
Tulfo thanked Pangilinan for the “swift investigation process.”
