MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is facing backlash on social media after posting a music video celebrating First Lady Liza Marcos’ 65th birthday.

“Seasons of LAM,” a nearly three-minute music video, was posted on the MMDA’s social media accounts.

Its lyrics are derivative of the song “Seasons of Love” from the Broadway musical Rent.

Acting MMDA Chairman Romando Artes said the agency did not produce the music video.

“We just saw it on (YouTube) and reposted it with our greetings. So no cost to MMDA,” Artes said. “As to who created the music video, we don’t know.”

Social media users urged the MMDA to attend to more pressing matters, such as the traffic congestion in Metro Manila.

President Marcos said Liza had a "very quiet" birthday celebration in Baguio City on Wednesday.
