MMDA: Brace for road repairs during long weekend

MANILA, Philippines — Portions of EDSA and other major thoroughfares in the metropolis will be repaired during the long weekend, according to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

In an advisory yesterday, the MMDA advised motorists to take alternative routes during the road reblocking activities by the Department of Public Works and Highways starting today until Monday.

Portions of EDSA, particularly West Avenue, North Avenue, Quezon Avenue, Bansalangin and Lanutan in Quezon City; Monumento in Caloocan, and Ayala tunnel in Makati, will be repaired.

Also included in the roadworks are parts of Tandang Sora Avenue, Mindanao Avenue and Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City; Gen. San Miguel street in Caloocan, and Roxas Boulevard near EDSA flyover in Parañaque.

These roads will reopen at 5 a.m. on Aug. 27, the MMDA said.

The number coding scheme is suspended today for the commemoration of the Ninoy Aquino Day, which was moved by Malacañang from Aug. 21.
